Spaceballs” Sequel Panic! Bill Pullman & Rick Moranis Blast Off Again—with Keke Palmer & Lewis Pullman in Tow

Get ready, Spaceballs fans! Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money is officially happening, and it’s slated to hit theaters in 2027. So, what’s the scoop on this long-awaited sequel?

The biggest news has to be that some absolute legends from the original crew are coming back.

First off, the man himself, Mel Brooks, is returning as the wise and powerful Yogurt. There’s also a chance he’ll be back as the hilarious villain President Skroob. But perhaps the most talked-about return? Rick Moranis is coming back as the iconic Dark Helmet! This is huge news, especially since Moranis has mostly stepped away from acting over the past few decades. And of course, Bill Pullman is reprising his role as the hero we need, Lone Starr.

We’re also getting some fresh faces. Keke Palmer is hopping aboard in a role that’s still a mystery. Adding to the family legacy, Bill Pullman’s son, Lewis Pullman, is joining the fun – and he’ll be playing Starburst, the son of Lone Starr and Queen Vespa! Plus, Josh Gad is expected to star and will produce alongside Mel Brooks. We don’t know who he’ll be playing just yet, though.

Behind the camera, Josh Greenbaum is set to direct. The script is being penned by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. Mel Brooks is also on board as a producer, with a long list of executive producers including Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Jeb Brody, alongside Brooks, Greenbaum, Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez.

As for the story? Details are mostly under wraps, but the film’s official description is hilariously long: “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.” We do know one fun detail though: Josh Gad mentioned the sequel plans to take some jabs at the Disney era of the Star Wars saga.

It’s worth remembering that the original Spaceballs, released way back in 1987, became a true cult classic. It brilliantly parodied the Star Wars universe and other sci-fi tropes, and its unique humor and sharp satire have kept fans laughing for decades.

While the confirmed returns are incredibly exciting, it’s also a moment to remember some beloved original cast members we’ve lost, like the irreplaceable John Candy and Joan Rivers. What about Princess Vespa? As of now, Daphne Zuniga hasn’t been officially announced, but there’s definitely a possibility she could make an appearance.
